Me three. Give me the good old written word, in which I can go as fast or slowly as I wish, and skip the bits I already know 👌

I never get to everything. I do what I have too and then what I want. Much more of that.

I used to listen to The Moth but got out of the habit.

Me either, I actually forget they are out there. I’ve listened to some great one’s about different religions but not in a very long time. Since 2010 actually, when gramps was dying I spent the last 5 months living with him and listened to some podcasts then. I spend most days in quite except for the occasionally conversation with my husband who has an office downstairs.

Did Grandpa live with you at the last?

No, they wanted to die at home and I promised them when I was a child that I would take care of them. So I stayed with both until the end. Granny had gramps so all I had to do was take them to the doctor, run errands and guy groceries. Gramps did ok until the last 6-8 months, at 5 months he took a turn and I moved in. It was the greatest thing I could have done. It was hard work and painful but I got to know him better and the memories are priceless.

I know you were grateful to be able to support them. Mother is 96. I supported her at home as long as I could. This summer she moved into an independent living facility. She is so happy there because of all the socialization. It had reached the point she only saw me and one neighbor daily. She was never happy once she lost her license. She went to the store daily for a coke and paper, then to coffee with friends. She put every penny she could in savings and went to bank frequently for just enough cash to buy what she needed. She also went to church every Sunday. She was ashamed and wouldn’t go after she lost her license. We have lunch together several times a week and do errands.

I wouldn’t change a thing. They are the reason I’m alive and I loved them so much. You’re very lucky your mother still has spunk and is happy in liife. She is now surrounded by people which makes her feel better.

She got really lonely after she couldn’t drive. I know I am lucky.

I still get lonely that I can’t drive much. I can only drive in a 3 miles radius which leaves my husband driving me everywhere. Thank goodness for online shopping.
