Dogs, Dogs, Dogs

What is your favorite animal?

Without a doubt, dogs are my favorite animal. At the moment, I have two. Both are rescues. Croc is an enormous mastiff/lab mix. He looks big and mean but is super-sweet. He adores children and babies. When he’s fortunate enough to have a young visitor, he just prostrates himself in front of of them begging for their attention.

Here he is with his Christmas blanket.

Izzy is our little guy. He came to us because he’s a runner. He strayed up to a woman’s house and she fostered him till my niece, a rural mail carrier told us about him.

Izzy specializes in lap-sitting and yapping.

Sausage Biscuit

What snack would you eat right now?

If someone showed up at my door right now with a sausage biscuit right now, there is no way I could say “No.” Even better, nothing compares to a homemade biscuit hot out of the oven. When I was a kid, Mother made biscuits twice a day. At the time, I had no idea how hard that was for her. Thank you, Mother

Love at First Sight

Describe an item you were incredibly attached to as a youth. What became of it?

It was true love when I found this little guy under the Christmas tree. He was my constant companion. He was part of every game, sat on the chair with me while I ate, and slept with me. I even sneaked him into the bath with me, a hard lesson since it took him a couple of days to dry on the clothes line.

He tragically went missing one day. My search was futile. I moved on. Long afterwards, I found his tattered remains in the yard where the dogs had destroyed him. My heart broke all over.

Living Long

What are your thoughts on the concept of living a very long life?

Like most, I would only like to live a very long life If I were able to take care of myself. I don’t want to be a burden to anyone.

Organization

What could you do differently?

I could and should organize my writing. I am totally spontaneous plunging headlong into whatever is on my mind. That works just fine except it leaves me with a mass of material that I have intentions of getting in a book. I will prioritize organization.

Thinking Time

Do you spend more time thinking about the future or the past? Why?

When I’m writing, I spend more time thinking about the past. That’s where most of my stories originate. I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about the future. I do what I need to ensure the best future but I don’t have a lot of control over what comes.

Time

What is the greatest gift someone could give you?

Time is the greatest gift a person can give. Whether you volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, help build a playground, or donate some of your precious vacation days to an ailing coworker, time is precious.

Colleges

What colleges have you attended?

I have attended a few. Under pressure from my parents, I did one year at a community college, then transferred to Louisiana Tech University. After getting married, I finished my education degree at Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, Louisiana. I took a couple of courses at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. I completed my nursing degree at Northwestern State University in Shreveport, Louisiana. That is a long list.
