Not Good

Jot down the first thing that comes to your mind.

My automatic floor cleaner is buzzing. I don’t like this upgraded one. I don’t believe it is very gets through a cycle without needing an intervention. It was much more expensive and doesn’t work nearly as well as my old roomba. I should have definitely gone with roomba again when the old on died.

Kindness

Describe a random encounter with a stranger that stuck out positively to you.

I was seven months pregnant with a three-year-old in tow. Glad to be done with the hassle of the busy downtown, I returned to find a flat tire on my vehicle. I was appalled . Poor as a church mouse, I couldn’t have called for help. I must have looked as desperate as I felt. A kind passerby noted my dilemma and changed my tire. I will be forever grateful for his kindness and pass it on at every opportunity.

Good Decision

Describe a decision you made in the past that helped you learn or grow.

The decision to become a nurse hit me like a bolt of lightning. I had given it no thought before that day. A friend came by to ask if I’d keep her son while she went to register for nursing school. I was shocked to hear myself say, “No, I can’t. I have to register for nursing school myself.

It had never crossed my mind till that moment. It was like I had been struck by lightning.

Thanks

Describe a positive thing a family member has done for you.

My older sister encouraged me to apply for student loans for college. She also paid my dorm deposit. I am still grateful.

Cotton Boll

What is your favorite restaurant?

I love Cotton Boll Grill on Fairfield Avenue in Shreveport, Louisiana. Established in the 1930’s it features Southern cooking. The staff is friendly and food sumptuous.

Ten Years

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I am seventy-five, so I may be pushing up daisies in ten years or I might be like my ninety-seven-year old mother, still kicking up my heels. Either one is fine with me.

Five Things

What are 5 everyday things that bring you happiness?

Here are my five things. I am fortunate that being with my husband of fifty-five years brings me happiness. I am happy with family time. I love my home and gardening. I also have two loving dogs. A bonus is my writing.

Revelation

Describe something you learned in high school.

School was never a problem for me. I loved language and was not challenged by anything that involved reading comprehension. However, I am clumsy and uncoordinated. I have absolutely no athletic skill. I quickly learned that I would never be a basketball player. It’s more likely I would have been comic relief.

Positive Change

Describe one positive change you have made in your life.

Since I got older and retired, I am able to focus more on myself. This is not a change in philosophy, just the natural order of things. When my children were young, their needs came first. In addition to that, I was a nurse. I had heavy responsibilities to my patients. Now that my children are grown and I’m retired, my time is my own.
