Are There Unofficial Rules for Blogging?

Reblogging this excellent post from My Thoughts on a Page

tric's avatarMy thoughts on a page.

My blog is nearly six weeks old.

For months after a baby is born,
you refer to its age in weeks.
So maybe my husband has a point,
My blog is my new baby!

Well if that is the case,
As the parent of my new blog,
I have some queries and questions,
of those of you more experienced blog parents than I.

In the early days as I read other blogs,
I was amazed to see,small_4755036043
the number of people,
taking the time to write,
on every conceivable topic.
I felt like a child in a sweet shop,
whenever I knew I had free time,
to sit and read so many different posts.
Then if i wished,
I could press the “like” button.

After a while,
I began to absorb my new surroundings.
Some people had large followings,
some relatively small.
Some posted frequently,
others less so.

Then I…

    Tour Through Blogland

A while ago I was invited to participate in “ A Tour Through Blogland,” also known as “The Virtual Blog Tour Award.” When my nominator, Linda from Nutstrok, https://nutrstrok.wordpress.com introduced me to this project, I was immediately intersted and excited. Afterall, it has to do with our creative writing process, and allows other bloggers to know the ins and out of how and what we write. Linda comes from a long line of storytellers. The hilarious, mishap stories about her mother are heading toward an E-book. Her mother’s growing up during the great depression is a longer book project in the works. Visit her blog site, there are more stories for you to enjoy.

Now, the rules for this project:

  1. Pass the tour on to up to four other bloggers.
  2. Give them the rules and a specific Monday to post.
  3. Answer 4 questions about your creative process which lets…

To the Girls Who Mocked My Son in the Mall – by Lisa Smith

Please read this excellent post.

Kindness Blog's avatarKindness Blog

Tate age 12, Sydney age 10Last evening as I walked through the nearly empty mall with my two youngest, you five girls were behind us by several yards. We had just seen a movie and were in great spirits. We were walking to meet up with four of my older children.

We stopped to take a photo, at one of those cutout scenes where you stick your faces through the holes. I caught sight of you as we took our photo, walking and giggling and having a good time. I have had teenaged girls and know how much fun they can have together in a mall. I noted to myself that you were a lively group but certainly not threatening in any way. You were walking faster than we were and the gap between us was closing. I turned from snapping our photo and we continued down the hall.

My son fell behind a few…

N. KOREANS HACK ARKANSAS MAN’S PROGRAMMABLE COFFEEMAKER

Rebogging from iteneraantneerdowell. This is just going too far!

warturoadam77p's avataritinerantneerdowell

The possibility, that even a small appliance could be hacked, was a frightening one for Mr. Boyd T. Howdee, from Ringhaven, Arkansas. Mr. Howdee claimed to have been victimized by North Korean hackers; his programmable coffeemaker sabotaged, this past Monday morning.  Mr. Howdee, interviewed at the local “Save-A-Penny, Convenience, Gas, and Food Mart,” had this to say.

tabloid 2“I knew something was wrong right away.  I checked the coffeemaker before me and the Mrs. went to bed last night.  The power didn’t go out or anything.  We don’t owe anything to anybody.  It’s a brand-new machine–just got it from Wal-Mart last month.  If those North Koreans could do it to a major movie studio–they could do it here.”

“Come to think of it–my grandson’s new gaming system didn’t work after Christmas, either. There’s nothing worse than a kid crying about a broken toy on Christmas.  And if that didn’t beat all–that was…

Why I Would Rather Try To Find The Funny Than The Meaning Of Life

Sir Loin of Beef Sir Loin of Beef

Some look at life’s journey as a pitched battle, and some as a noble quest. Either way, a smart knight should be prepared for the dragons he or she is bound to encounter along the way. My weapon of choice is a feather duster.

It has only snowed once so far this weird winter.  I took advantage of the unlooked for boon of ice-free roads here in the country last week and went for a walk.  My mood was somber as I set off down the road, well bundled against the bracing cold.  I needed the lift that nature always gives me because I felt lower than I have felt in a long time.

I was thinking about my dear cousin, Moe. She’s experimenting with multiple chemo treatments, locked in mortal combat with the cancer that has spread despite her efforts. We recently learned that her…
