How Much For That Blanket in The Window?

imageThis is a 45 x 45 inch reversible infant blanket with a cozy flannel side and a soothing satin side, with a fluffy hand crocheted edge.  I’ve made many of these for gifts.  How would I price this for sale?

  1. I had to laugh about the comments about thongs. My mother was 91 when she passed away, but just before that, she heard the word thongs and thought they were flip-flops; they were to her. When I explained that the term no longer meant flip-flops, she was really disgusted.
The blanket is beautiful. I think the suggestion about checking it out on e-bay is really a good one.

  2. It is unfortunate however, that there was a small quilted blanket I gave my girls recenlty. It was my blanket from when I was a baby – I carried that thing thing everywhere, it was everyhting to me. But when my daughters got it, they were less impressed than I was. I knew every scrap that was on that quilt, I could match the scraps to other furniture or clothing in my grandma’s house. That blanket meat a lo me but for my daughters it only been used as a blanket to lay upon the grass when they play outside. No one sleeps with it.

  3. When it comes to selling items such as these – you have to do your research if you want to sell them at a decent, market price. Look on eBay for similar items being sold and check how much they are currently listed for and how much they have sold for in the past. Also check other online markets such as Amazon, local swap meets, etc. This will give you a broad view of the price you can charge depending upon where you choose to sell it. Personally, I have found that handmade items such as quilts and blankets and doilies and ceramics – although they are worth a pretty penny on various markets – I often end up giving them to someone I care about because I would rather their meaning be shared with someone else than merely sell them for a profit.

Factor in your time and materials. I would have no idea, but I would imagine you could fetch a pretty um, quarter for them.
