These were all great. I ended up watching every one of them all the way through, which is praise indeed from me when it comes to Youtube videos. Your mother has a wonderful accent, first-class delivery and a very lively sense of humor. I liked all her stories, but my favorite was the one about five whippings in a day. It had such a hilarious punchline.

She was proud of that one. I was always embarrassed when she got desperate enough to swat me. It felt like getting spanked by Minnie Mouse.

RE 5 whippings.
Parents used to take the kids in back of a woodshed and give them “what for.” There is a generation that doesn’t understand why sometimes that’s what it takes to get a point across. Like the time I ran out into the street (an 8 lane highway) and got “what for” with an explanation that it hurt much worse than being hit by a car. :-)

I must admit that I am a tad jealous. My Mother is very closed, she never tells back in the day stories.

It is good to have a warm, loving father. My father was volatile, very strict, and prided himself on being tough. We would have had a rough life without her.
