O

I had the privilege of walking among these forgotten stones and said a prayer for their souls. I hope someone will do this for me someday. Three stones were for infants.

How very sad, Linda. It was a lovely thing you did saying a prayer for them :-)

Bless your heart. They know because they are angels and someone will do it for you someday in the far future. Imagine if the person that does is a distant relative of someone you prayed turns out to be a distant relative of one of the little ones you prayed for. WOW!!!

I do the same thing. One of the saddest stones I saw said “Her Name Was Hattie”. I pray for them too. Thank you for this.

Walking around the churchyard and cemetery of the village where I live there are so many graves of little babies who died centuries ago just a few days or weeks of age. So sad for the families.

We are so fortunate that so many of our babies don’t die now.

Wow, it is a pity to see them so neglected or forgotten!

It is so sad. It is a slave cemetery located on private property. Oral tradition says there are more than forty . These were the only ones we found.

Ouch. This gets sadder by the minute. Time has buried the evidence. <3 <3 <3

I wonder why that happens. His is a cemetery with many slave graves. The latest burial date was 1891. My friend said they saw on grave with a birth date of the late 1700s. This was once part of a plantation. The cemetery for the white s was on another piece of private property, so I didn’t get to see it. My friend has notified local historical society.

Wow. Graveyards, though silent, tell a lot, don’t they?
