As I sit on my patio, I await the approaching storm. Everything I can control is in readiness with food cooked, water at hand, coffee in the thermos, flashlights with fresh batteries within reach, and phones charged. I’ve talked to my family. The children live hours south where the storm has already passed. I thank God for that.
As I wait for the storm on the patio, I enjoy the unseasonable seventy-nine degrees, even knowing what it means. Rain is is not yet blowing sideways, but it soon will be. I recognized an ominous cracking sound, reminding me of branches that will be coming down. Mother is with me .She always shelters with us during storms. Somethings never change. Even though Mother is ninety-two and frail, I am completely comforted that she is here to protect me.
The lights are flickering. A large branch Just crashed to the ground. I was about to Rush out to get a picture when I caught myself. Maybe I’ll get photos after the storm.
Sounds scary. Lucky you stopped self from going out to take photos. Glad you are safe and you are well prepared for the storm.

I know. Might not have turned out well. We have a huge pine we need to take out. I mentioned it to Bud this morning. I know he’s going to insist on doing it himself. He still thinks he’s a twenty-two year-old pauper. I would rather pay someone.

Please pay someone to do it as who knows with the storm, the roots may be a bit wafty and makes it even more unsturdy. Stay safe if you are in the month of “storms” – I remember when I used to work and live in Hong Kong, August to September were months of tropical storms we call typhoons and it was scary to me. I can imagine yours!

oh dear-I am saying a prayer now=just went through this=losing power for two days was the worst of it for us. Of course the place was wrecked with branches. Update us when you can and my supplies are like yours-thankfully I had baby wipes which was better than nothing to freshen up with. love Michele

Thanks for your prayers. The storm is over, the sun shining. The yard is full of debris, but all is well.

Storms can rattle us, despite our resolve to stay strong. I’m glad your mother is with you to “protect” you. I hope the trees stay where they belong and that we will hear from you soon that all is well.
