What profession do you admire most and why?
I think teaching must be the hardest job in the world. Teachers interact with kids on a daily level bringing important lessons to kids who may or may not be receptive. They face criticism from unappreciative parents who feel their kids do not wrong. Teachers are underpaid, yet put their own money back into classroom supplies. I am so grateful for teachers. All of society depends on them.
Teaching…..in some countries teaching is highy esteemed and so it should be. Teachers shape new generations and our world.

Even forty years ago, when I was doing artist in residencies, teacher’s situations vis a vis class size, attention span, parents and even administrators had me feeling very sad for these professionals, some of whom, like your other commentor, come to it fully inspired to improve kids’ lives, only to find frustration at every turn.

Teaching would be the very last job I would ever consider. I admire those who revel in it.

I know what you mean and there is no second opinion about what you said. I tried to work as a teacher but gave up within a year. Not because the kids were rude but because it’s the most tiring and underrated job. It drains all your energy and time. It drived me crazy.
Hats off to all the teachers in the world.
