What do you love about where you live?

I live on a quiet street in a neighborhood started in the 1970s The best thing is the trees. Built before the current trend of wiping lots bare before building, yards are graced with mighty trees. These lovely beings shade the streets, welcoming all who pass. My yard is well-shaded with tall trees that give the illusion of cool, even in the blistering August heat of Louisiana.

Old is gold.

I love your neighborhood, it sounds like mine. We live in a neighborhood started in the early 1960’s, and the trees give it a feeling of country living.
Our bird feeders have all manner of variety, but never an owl! That’s really neat! The closest we came was watching a hawk “eliminate” a dove in our backyard. But that’s rare.
We even have a chipmunk who now eats peanuts out of my hand. I affectionately call him “Chippypants”.
Thanks for sharing your neighborhood, and great job on the patio.👍🏻👍🏻

Thank you. I do love the birds. It’s wonderful when they wake me. The flagstone was a birthday gift from my husband. I put landscaping fabric down, transported sand from an area of the yard that gets underwater in heavy rain, then laid the stones piece by piece, puzzle style. It took months, but I got intrigued with it. When I used all the stones, I dusted sand and pea-gravel between. Hubby just maintains it by weedeating. My supply of sand is refreshed every time it rains. I enjoyed doing this pretty much without help. I have clematis and climbing roses growing on the trellis. It is a great bird feeding area. It is swarming with hummers since I have a lot of feeders out. Those hummers are fighty little rascals.

I love where I live too. What is best about the locality is the existence of a big and beautiful park that provides a powerful natural environment to embrace.

When my daughter lived in St. Petersburg, Fla.there were four nice parks with four blocks any direction. We did a lot of park time. At one park, manatees were common. That blew me away.

Your yard looks lovely! I recently bought a house in the neighbourhood I grew up in. I guess i love it because it feels like home, but I love having space for a garden and my dog… big windows too. Working on getting more tall trees for privacy!

What I love about where I live is I have a back area where I see some kids and some dogs hangout and it is gated. I am not afraid of my son running off into the road.

They do but with how the weather can be I don’t risk it when it is cloudy and looking like it might ran any minute. If it is sunny with some clouds and a breeze then I am okay with taking him outside.

Since my son is 3 years old and still getting his updated vaccs I make sure that he doesn’t get sick. He is starting up school and I do not want him getting anyone else sick. When he gets sick he gets high fevers.

It is but we can break it without seeing a doctor. Just keep him cool, give him something for the fever and give him light weight cold type foods to help him out.

People used to think it took a cold bath to bring temp down. As long as water is cooler than child it will bring temp down. Also, let them go with shirt and pants till they cool off. I am a retired RN.

I don’t give him cold cold baths, I do more luke warm baths equal cold and hot and he loves those types of baths.

I do not want him to go through school without being vax. I also talk with my husband about a lot of it so he is in the loop with everything that is going on with our son.

It is. I have to remind myself daily that he is just being a kid and being a kid means a messy house and not always having time to eat

A kid won’t starve if food is available. If they don’t eat at meals, healthy snacks work fine.

He grows and eats so much that I have a hard time occasionally keeping up with his eating habits. I am still working on getting him to eat his veggies and to eat some meat. Other wise he will eat chicken nuggets, pizza and mac n cheese. Not exactly healthy type of foods but at least he is eating. he will also eat fruit and some avocado’s

I really enjoyed doing it. I was on a diet at the time. My weight wasn’t going down much because I was gaining muscle. I complained to my doctor while I was showing her pictures of my patio progress. She pointed out the muscle gain.

I was born and raised here in Lake Macquarie all 5 houses I have lived in during my life are in the same area around and I have lived in this house/home since May 1988 and I like living here. I like sitting in my armchair watching the birds outside my front door. What I love most is that all my family are pretty close by, even my though my eldest daughter is a 20-30 minute drive from here she is still close enough.

I live in a little group of ten bungalows that’s very quiet but with the nicest, kindest neighbours. We have a little cut through used by small children and their mothers on the way to and from school , which is a delight. It’s a small village at the edge of a small town but close to a heritsge pasrk containing the ruins of an Abbey destroyed by Henry VIII, and also close to the mouth on an estuary. The only drawback to living here is that it’s on a hill that feels vertical, no fun at my age, Hugs

I enjoyed your description, David. I’m glad you have nice, kind neighbors.
I live on the side of a mountain. So far I’ve kept steady on my feet. If I rolled down, I’d hit a barbed wire fence and two horses and a donkey would stare at me.
Sending you lots of hugs!

The kjettle is on for Linda, Anne. Join me and we can lean into the wind together partway down my hill. If I roll down I’d be run over by constant Coast Road traffic before rolling down to the waters edge to be nibbled by fish. Bring a net to save me. Huge Hugs
