What do you enjoy most about writing?
The best part of writing is looking at myself objectively. When writing, I am outside looking in. Not just privy to my thoughts, I can surmise what others bring to the table. Viewing myself from another perspective has often given me clarity. It’s not all about me.

I can often get this same effect intuitively, by reading a work, so to speak, “through the eyes” of someone to whom I have recently given or sent it. Illuminating experience!

I like it when I can sit at the computer and let my fingers dance over the keyboard and produce words that make sense when read, I write to many penpals and I often just let my fingers decide what to write as they dance on the keyboard.

They do take on a life of their own. And I love to read what you have to say? How did you get your penpals? Have you ever met.

Wouldn’t it be fascinating if you had copies of all those letter? Did you keep the letters. It would make a great book.

Me too. When I first started writing, I feared no one would care about the mundane I wrote about. It’s such a joy to connect. Thanks for commenting todsy.

Although the Barsetshire Diaries was about my family life on a day to day basis, the most fun I had was writing Queen”s Envoy in which my character became a poor man’s James Bond writing myself into unfamiliar situations was fun as was the getting out of them. Hugs

I love the moments of “oh” when suddenly something you viewed as banal in your life morphs into something so much more and so the story flows

Editing what I’ve written. Writing a first draft is hard work, but sculpting it into a story that works is pure joy.

I love revisiting what I’ve left lying for a while. Sometimes, it takes a life of its own.

I know what you mean. I always let my writing ‘marinate’ for a bit before going back to work on it.
