Mother recently moved The Bloom in Bossier City, Louisiana, in an independent living apartment. She struggled at leaving her home of more than forty years but is now ecstatic about her new life. She’s made so many new friends and gotten her walking habit back. She’s enjoying attending church again since she hasn’t attended regularly since she stopped driving. Her new apartment is centrally located between her children, so almost every day one or two drop by. We can enjoy a meal with her any time for a minimal price. I haven’t seen her without her beautiful smile since she moved in. We are all so happy she’s happy at her lovely new home!

She is delighted to be footloose and fancy-free. She’s as free as a child! What a relief after such a lifetime of taking care of others!

The resistance to move is to entrenched in some people but if you are in the right spot, your whole life opens up with friends and activities nearby.

Mother dreaded the hard work of discarding and cleaning to move. All the kids kicked in. We worked for weeks. She is so happy to be in a busy place now.

The idea of cleaning out a house is overwhelming. We downsized to move here yet we still have too much stuff. I am glad it worked out so well for her. Unfortunately I don’t have kids to help and the cats….well, sometimes they are useless.

Mother is 96! She’s delighted her expenses are all included in her rent which is direct draft. She only spends on what she wants now. She is thrilled. Most days one or two kids drop by. Yesterday, three of us took her out to dinner!

This is wonderful news and your Mother looks fabulous. I oversaw the care of my Mother for 12 years…until her death at 95 in 2016. I found a nursing home a five minute walk from where I live.

She acts totally delighted, freed from all responsibility. She eats with friends in the dining room, has and laundry included. She has friends to walk with and church on site. It’s a good life.

So many people dread moving to a senior center but it can be very freeing! You’re mother is a great example.
