Bud recalls helping his dad as he was growing up. Sometimes his dad might express frustration as they worked along.saying, “If you want a job done right, you’d better do it yourself.”
As smart alec kids sometimes do, Bud filed that tidbit in the back of his mind. It wasn’t long before dad left him instructions for a job he intended for Bud to do the next day. “I want you to do this tomorrow and I want it done right!”
Foolishly, Bud finished his sentence for him. “Then you’d better do it yourself!”
Oh boy! I can’t help but wonder if Bud’s dad lay in bed that night though laughing, thinking, I’ve taught him well.

Without a doubt. More than 60 years later Bud laughs and rubs his butt. I knew his father well. He was very hardworking but witty and fun -loving, Bud said he was fair and predictable. Bud knew he was in for a butt-kicking before the words were out of his mouth.

That reminder, bitter sweet I’m sure. Sounds like a wonderful dad who raised an amazing son for you to love.

For many years dad only had his daughters to help him and we all did help with things like running power to the garage and wallpapering the kitchen I those jobs with dad.
