What is good about having a pet?
The best part of having a dog is there undying love. Should a person be a total jerk, alienate everyone in their life, and not contribute anything to society, their dog greets them with total affection. Cats are just the opposite, making no effort to please. They domesticate and make servants of us. For some reason,, we find their sociopathy intoxicating. These pets appeal to the bipolar component of our nature.

Having a dog, who needs humans? As for the cat, it’s the only sociopath I am willing to have in my life.

I can tell you are not a sociopath because you liked my comment. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving.

Growing up, my mother always had a cat. I never took to any of them. I’m a dog lover through and through. And, yes, their undying love is amazing. I miss having a dog. My lease doesn’t allow pets, or I’d certainly have one.

That’s inhumane!

I have always preferred small dogs over cats but as I get older I can see the benefit of a cat but I still prefer small dogs

I’ve had a female a time or two. They seemed a bit moody.

I had a solid white female cat a couple of decades ago I named snow. Every morning I would get up and once I got dressed, I would get her fresh food, fresh water, and clean out her kitty litter pan. Once I did that, she would look at me as she laid on her couch (she wouldn’t allow me to sit on her couch) and she would give me this look of “Ok! You gave me food, you gave me water, you cleaned out my kitty litter pan, you paid the rent. Now, get out of my apartment! I miss her.

That is crazy how we like that. Cats have it figured out.

I love dogs and cats, but I have to admit cats are less work.

The down side of having dogs is they require a baby sitter when they can’t travel with us. It costs $50 a day. Fortunately, I have a niece who will always sit. They are always happy when I tell them Kiley is coming.

I have two dogs myself and the cost for going away is crazy.

It sure is. We take ours when we camp or go to cabins that accept. We don’t take them to hotels where they’d have to spend time alone. We do take them if it’s only a stopover in route somewhere else.

The last hotel I stayed at with my dogs charged me $45 a dog.

Wow! I don’t remember what I paid, but that’s a lot!

I thought so too. It was a bit crazy and has made me curtail traveling with the furry friends.
