Who is the most famous or infamous person you have ever met?
Under the circumstances, I am so glad I didn’t get to meet Maya Angelou, one of my greatest heroes. It would have been tragic. When I visited my cousin in Greensboro, North Carolina, she took me to tour the campus of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. We were both in awe of its beauty. Perhaps my cousin was a bit too impressed. As we approached a busy traffic crossing, she almost bumped her car into Maya Angela and two other women. Ms. Angelou was startled and spoke out angrily to her. Though I didn’t actually understand the pearls of wisdom dropping from her lips, I inferred it was something like, “Watch where you’re going, you dumb …….!”
I am so grateful not to have made her acquaintance that day.

Seeing this photograph of the great Maya Angelou – I am reminded of the time I met her! `it was at the Haye on Wye Literary Festival…She was amazing. To say that she is statuesque is a huge understatement. Her voice is like molases and honey.:).

Oh, dear God, thank goodness, Beth, this chance encounter ended with all parties safe and sound. Whew! Moments like this enhances my belief that Guardian Angels do exist. Happy that your cousin was able to respond in a timely manner, bless her heart.

She was a gift to us all, she was born in Southern Arkansas in a little hole in the road town. You would have guessed she never had a chance.

Years ago, I had the opportunity to meet people in the music industry. I suppose the two that stood out the most to me were John Travolta when he released his album, and Hall & Oats with their first album. Fun stuff. :)

Yes! It was fun. John Travolta was very shy. Hall and Oats were pretty unknown at the time, and they stood alone at this cocktail party, so I just went up and chatted with them a bit.

I had no idea of the body of work attributed too Karimloo. He would be an excellent choice. Of course C.S. Lewis would be incredible. I’d love to talk to Mark Twain.
