What is your favorite place to go in your city?
There is an old cemetery in Greenwood, Louisiana I love. We lived near enough there to walk when my children were small. We enjoyed it like a park. After walking through the cemetery, the kids would wade and play in the clear water of the sandy-bottomed clear creek that flowed nearby. Afterwards, we’d picnic on its sandy banks. It was a wonderful time.

I love graveyards. My mother used to make beautiful grave stone rubbings…..

Oh, those are so beautiful. My niece’s property backs up to a slave graveyard. It breaks my heart to see the handmade markers with tender messages. You know those buried there had terrible lives.

Yes….and yet those slave graveyards are of great historical significance for lal of us. It would be so interesting to visit that.

Cemeteries are wonderful places to slow down and appreciate the life you have and remember the past lives.

For me there is something soothing about cemeteries. When I put flowers on my Grandparents and Father’s grave and take the old flowers and search for one that hasn’t seen a flower in a long time and put them on those. I’ve even been know to get flowers out of thrash and put them on graves. It feels right to me.

Some of my favorite people have die. They seem as real as ever. I hope someone will remember me as fondly.

I have no family left and I’m being cremated so I don’t have to worry about visitors.
