Do you or your family make any special dishes for the holidays?
Of course, our family has holiday favorites. Turkey is always the guest of honor. Then there’s cornbread dressing and homemade cranberry sauce. Green bean casserole is traditional along with mashed potatoes and gravy. Guests would be disappointed without sweet potato casserole and pumpkin pie. Our family usually divides up the menu items. Anticipating leftovers, guests know to bring take out containers. One time a guest said, “Wow, I didn’t bring anything and I’m taking home a feast!” I was fine with that since she was a cat lady.

Your meal sounds very traditional – and just like ours were – except we didn’t bring containers for leftovers. :) The host usually kept them for their family. If Mom was the host, we would sometimes run to her house the next day to mooch lunch.
In my mother’s later years, she wanted to go out to eat on Thanksgiving, which meant usually an Amish restaurant or the truck stop. Gotta love a good truck stop!

Mmm, mmm yummy @ homemade cranberry sauce. Happy Thanksgiving! Beth, may you & yours have a happy holiday season as well.
Please give your lucky furry rescue “Izzy” a hug and a few pats from me. He has much to be thankful for. Thank you & yours for opening your warm, and caring home to him.

We used to do up a traditional turkey feast, but in later years we just have something else, like BBQ, or spaghetti, or roast beef. Same for Christmas meal.
Cute doggie dressed like a turkey! haha :)

On Boxing Day we always have a buffet instead of a sit down meal. At tht time I like to have Beetroot Jelly with my cold meats. That’s a raspberry jelly made with three parts water and one part vinegar containing sliced beetrooe. As a special treat I have a trifle where the craem on top is beaten with Condensed milk until thick and very sweet. The content of h trifle is always strawberrries by choice. No wonder I’m diabetic. Hugs
