Describe an item you were incredibly attached to as a youth. What became of it?
It was true love when I found this little guy under the Christmas tree. He was my constant companion. He was part of every game, sat on the chair with me while I ate, and slept with me. I even sneaked him into the bath with me, a hard lesson since it took him a couple of days to dry on the clothes line.

He tragically went missing one day. My search was futile. I moved on. Long afterwards, I found his tattered remains in the yard where the dogs had destroyed him. My heart broke all over.

Another sad tale of childhood. This one hurt my heart reading about it. Poor you.
Those loved toys … especially animal types, dolls, stuffed animals, they were real-life to us. They were our pets our children. I’m still sensitive. I have my son’s childhood sock monkey on my desk. I couldn’t throw Mortimer away when I cleaned out the house! He sits with his arms folded across his belly where his guts (pantyhose) are falling out.

When I was two I got a red rocking horse for Christmas, I loved that horse, where is it now, down in Tim’s shed, it has done the rounds, all my siblings used it, all my daughters used it and all my grandchildren used it, now “Red” has been retired

Red was a good horse. When the greats come along he may come out of retirement again.

awww poor little monkey. This one looks kind of like the one my sister had when she was little. I don’t know what happened to that one, either. I didn’t have a monkey one, but I had lots of dog stuffed animals. :)

Oh no! Thats terrible! I didn’t have anything specific except for my thumb when I was little. It’s hard to lose that. My kids all had blankies. I have them stored away in a bin somewhere. You should try to get a replica!

I don’t think I remember how to love him now. I do have a sweet lap dog to take care of me, though.

Oh, no, it is heartbreaking for a kid to lose the best companion, which such a toy is. Thank God, you found its remains a lot later and not right away.
