After studying Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther KIng, Jr, my little grandson came home pondering their stories. He told his mother. “I want to do great things and help people, but I don’t want to get killed.” What a thing for a child to have to think!
That was a violent century and a half. No wonder the child thinks that. —- Suzanne

Remember the song by Dion, Abraham, Martin and John? Or consider U2, “In the Name of Love.” One cannot get anything much done on this side of the fear of death. We just say, “they can’t kill us all” and press on. One man on a barbed wire fence, no one even knows his name. So what?

Never underestimate a child’s ability to perceive and state the obvious.

Whoa. This child is too young to think this way. He’s going places, but I feel bad for him now. <3 <3

Sadly, so many that do great things do get killed and he seems to “get” that. Very sad!

It’s a shame that we live in a country where this is a valid fear. Great post.
