What’s a topic or issue about which you’ve changed your mind?
Born in 1950, I was raised in the rabidly racist South. I heard the N word daily, though my mother forbade it. My father had no such compunctions. I fully bought into racism, sure whites were superior. I didn’t know a single black person. Then I went to college. I made black friends. I would have liked to have invited them home a but knew that would ignite a firestorm. I am so grateful I learned the truth. If I learned, anyone can.

I belong to India and i have white skin tone and most probably in india this is not common so everyone thinks i judged to others on their tone and i have never done that in my life but let others think what i can say on it

Keep fighting the good fight! It’s sickening to see how social media nowadays has become a safe haven for white supremacy and racism in general. Thank you for sharing this article

Here in Ireland, people of any colour bar white (vampire white) were the norm until the mid 1980’s. For us it was an interesting development, and a learning curve. We learned like most other countries that colour has little to do with how a person behaves and lives. Like you, we have friends of different nationalities and colour, and they are all simply labelled friends.

I am so grateful to have worked in the healthcare field. I had the privilege with working with compassionate people of all ethnicities. It was humbling to see the kindness they showe even to disagreeable patients.

Humanity didn’t have races until sometime in late 1700’s I could be off by the year. But before that everyone was known for tribes, not colours of skin. Plus, we are all shades of wheat as Yahuah created us. Race/colour game came into the picture when they learned how to divide us, and make us hate each other due to our colours. Let me find that video that may explain it more better than i did. Found it. Yes, its all about Yahuah and Yahusha. But that is not the part I want you to watch. I want you to watch how races got created to divide us all. WE come from tribes, and our skin colours match the shades of wheat, as long as your not a tare in the wheat field. The person who created these races is the tare in Yah wheat field. They need to grow with us until the rapture hits, once the rapture hits the tare will go into the lake of fire while the wheat stay here on Heavenly earth. May Yahuah bless us all and this world.

I grew up in a racist community. If some folks took the time to look beyond their appearance, we would live harmoniously & not be divided by superficial qualities. But, on a positive note, I love how you’re speaking up about this topic & share your experience. Anyways, have a great week ahead! BBB

I love hearing perspectives from people in your generation as a highschooler. I’m hoping to volunteer at my local senior citizen center soon. It’s so important to learn from the mistakes of past generations to progress as a society! 💖

Man, I have talked to a few Black people lately who left me feeling like that race is full of sharp, open, spiritually highly aware folks. It’s an honor to know them.

I was good friends with an aboriginal girl in high school, I never gave any thought to her being black she was just a friend. I really don’t care what colour someone’s skin is I care more about who they are, if they are a nice, caring, easy to get along with person then they are okay in my eyes. If they are mean, nasty and not likeable then they are not okay in my eyes.

It is still beyond my understanding how racism still exists in the heads of far too many people. But it is absolutely shocking how normal it was back at the time when you grew up.

Rasicism perpetrated against white people is the new normal, and most people hear it but don’t feel it.

I agree . It’s a sad fact of humanity and the reason why we have distinct groups of people over the millennium is because of our inherent bigoted fears. Hate comes from learned behaviors but fear of the unknown and unfamiliar is natural. One day society will learn the difference.
