What would you do if you lost all your possessions?
That’s a pertinent question for a person living in an area subject to tornadoes and hurricanes. I know many people who have lost everything. If I lost everything from a storm, I would contact my insurance agent. Of course, there are all kinds of losses: theft, fires, betrayal, loss of livelihood, bankruptcy, eviction. No one is immune to the possibility of losing everything. Simply put, I would put one foot in front of the other and do what had to be done, like anyone else.

It would not be easy….I have been thinking about the people in the wake of Hurricane Helene…..

I am following with great concern the new hurricanes that are brewing….I listen to BBC Radio 4 which is gentle but at the same time keeps me up with weather etc. Normally an optimist my nature, I fear that the weather events will only become more extreme. You take care….

I cant imagine trying to ride it out. My daughter lived in St.Pete for a while. They were 2 blocks from the bay and 11 feet above sea level. They rode out one hurricane and learned better. I was so worried.

Does your daughter still live there? This is a bad one…..

No. Thank goodness. She lives in Houston, Texas now. It’s about 80 miles inland. They miss the storm surge but get fierce winds. Last time they got storm damage to one bedroom but they didn’t get tornadoes. Of course, they lost power but that’s not a disaster.

You are right, this is a very pertinent question. Makes me stop and think just how attached am I to my things? Of course I’m not including my medications, but other then that, things are just things, it’s our lives and the lives of those we love that matter most, so like you, I’d have to put one foot in front of the other and keep on going, just like everyone else who is or has delt with complete loss of everything.

That is a hard question because our nessities woul be gone including medication. But in the end, we survive, we pull all out strength and resources, help others and move forward to rebuild our life. I pray I never know the pain.

We often had evacuating patients at the hospital. The doctors did their best to order what they could based on patient, family, and available pharmacy records.
