Who are your favorite artists?
Van Gogh intoxicates me. His brilliant colors are amazing. His work so clearly shows the chaos he experienced. I wonder how he could manage to work when he was clearly so ill. How was it possible he only sold one painting during his lifetime?

I also love Clementine Hunter, a primitive artist from Melrose where she was a maid. Plantation in Louisiana. She started painting with supplies given to her at an art colony there.

Don’t have one, have ne er had much interest in art

I have heard some discussion that possibly Gaugin cut his ear off

It was Van Gogh who cut off his ear….he suffered from much mental trauma….which probably helped with his amazing work…..

There are so many stunning works. I can’t draw or paint and admire others who can.

not a fan of impressionism or anything like Picasso, but love Holman Hunt, Augustus John and the Romantic period, plus many of the Old Masters. Hugs

The second peice is a great reflection of real life and the chores we must do. I love Van Gogh, we and his contemporaries created a world of color, brush strokes and even though many died penniless they changed art forever.

I’ve visited Melrose Plantation many times. Sometimes I just crave seeing her work again. I’ve seen Van Gogh piece a few times. It was awe-inspiring.

I bet it was interesting to visit. The Impressionist period is my favorite period of art. I didn’t go to college but I did take a collage course on the period and it stuck with me. I’ve been fortunate to travel and see some amazing pieces from that time period.
